Islamic Matter

Edinburgh, Scotland is a place for a whole new Islamic experience for students who aim to gain from spiritual benefits. Despite being in a country with Muslims as a minority, the spread of Islam is expanding constantly. The Bruneian Edinburgh Society, in particular, has been actively organizing religious activities and celebrations such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Aidiladha, Maulidur Rasul, Khatam Al-Qur'an and Sembahyang Hajat before the exams. It is also an opportunity to meet and gather with the society members in the midst of a busy student life.

One of the active gatherings among the society members is the Qur'anic Circle which is usually held once in a fortnight. The society members who are joining the Khatam Al-Qur'an event and other interested members would gather and recite the Holy Book of Al-Qur'an together. Aside from that, there were also usrah, game sessions and discussions in every Qur'anic Circle to strengthened the peer support while being away from Bruland as well as strengthening our faiths.

Aside from the society's religious activities, the University of Edinburgh has its own Islamic Society. The University of Edinburgh Islamic society is active in organizing Islamic events such as Hari Raya Aidiladha, Islamic Awareness Week and Charity Drive. It was such a beautiful experience to be a part of the Islamic Society and to get acquainted with other Muslims as well as their cultures from different parts of the world.

Religious activities outside of the University's boundaries such as the Tafseer Al-Qur'an classes and New Sisters Circle (new reverts) at Edinburgh Central Mosque, Hope Conference, iLegacy workshop, Breaking Barriers and IlmFest are a few examples of the many spiritual activities that we can join as they welcome anyone with a growing interest in Islam. These gatherings is an amazing opportunity to meet and make new friends with other Muslims and non-Muslims from different parts of the world.
